Look Up!

Humor me for a moment: take a deep breath and look down towards the ground and think about your life. Take a minute or two, then gather yourself, take a sip of water, then look up for a few minutes while thinking of your life again. Was there a difference?

I've been reading the book "The Slight Edge" by Jeff Olson, where I was given this activity to do as well. I'm not sure if this was the same for you, but we tend to think about the past and things that have already happened, as well as more negative aspects of our lives when looking down. However, when we are looking up, we tend to think more positively and about our future rather than the present or past. This simple thing can be powerful. I am not going to go further into the analysis from the book, but I highly suggest it for some good life improvement education. Try this, though: when you are out running errands, working, walking around the city, etc., try to look up and smile more. Think about the future and where you are headed rather than the past, your mistakes, and things you simply cannot control. Dream about the possibilities that the future holds and the choices you can make today that can help make those dreams a reality. I'll leave you with this quote (which might be paraphrased) from the book:

"It's never too late to start improving your life. It's always too late to wait."

Thanks for reading everyone! Happy Friday!
